Graduate Software Developer
An exciting graduate software developer opportunity is now available in the Research and Development team at Datatrial. This is a chance to work as part of a small software development team, covering all aspects of the software development lifecycle, from inception and requirements capture, through analysis, design, implementation, testing and maintenance. The successful applicant will be using the latest Microsoft .NET and SQL Server development environments and technologies in an open, friendly working environment.
The successful applicant will gain extensive practical experience in the following.
• All aspects of Datatrial’s software development lifecycle and software validation processes, including identification of user requirements, creation of analysis and design models, and implementation using Microsoft .NET 3.5
• Use of a CASE tool for modelling requirements, use cases, analysis, code design and database design, providing traceability and document control
• Use of an automated testing tool for test-first development in order to improve the efficiency and coverage of the unit testing process
• Developing web-based applications using ASP.NET
• Working to stringent pharmaceutical industry regulations via standard operating procedures, coding standards and change control procedures
• Applying new releases of the application to existing customer installations
• Providing second-tier helpdesk support for user-reported software bugs
• Project management techniques
The position would be ideally suited to a recent graduate with a good academic background. The following are essential.
• A good academic background
• A good degree in computer science or similar subject
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written
• Strong organisational skills
• Methodical with a high level of attention to detail
• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work well as part of a team
The following are not essential, but experience or training in any would be advantageous.
• Object-oriented theory and modelling, including UML and design patterns
• Web development, especially ASP.NET, CSS and JavaScript
• Relational databases and SQL
• Microsoft .NET 3.5
